papamalangi123 asked: Hello. I found out from your flickr, that you have a Canon Rebel XS 35 mm. Well I do too, and I was thinking about shooting a roll of film with it. But as film's expensive, and I've got two other cameras waiting to be shot with, I'm confused which one to try out first. the other two are a Yashica Electro GSN and a Yashica Mat 124. So it'd really help me decide wisely, if you could please show me a few pictures shot with your 35mm SLR. What's your favorite film and lens to use with the SLR? ty.

Hello! I can’t give you advice on your other two cameras since I’ve never shot with those… But with the Canon Rebel XS, I would definitely pick it up and not let it sit around (that’s the worse thing you could do to your camera, let it sit!). I know film is expensive, but it wouldn’t absolutely kill you to just buy 1 or 2 rolls, just to try it out! I had that camera for my film photography class, so I only shot with black and white film and developed it myself at my school. I’m not sure if you are in the same situation, but if not you can always google nearby darkrooms/photo stores in your area to get supplies and get film developed. Photography is an expensive hobby, so you kinda have to sacrifice some bills when it comes to shooting, especially analog. But I believe that every photographer should shoot analog at one point of his/her life because it brings you back to the pure basics of photography, and it’s something every photographer should learn (I need to actually shoot more film myself!). But ya, with my canon film camera, my favorite lens was always the 50mm 1.8 lens, it has great sharpness and depth of field. As for the film I shot with, I believe it was this, and this.

Here are links to my old film work, the stuff I have from my other classes I have yet to scan into my computer!
